A valid Driver’s License AND vehicle registration or vehicle title.

Vehicles Seized For OVI or DUI Arrests

Vehicles that have been seized by the State of Ohio for OVI or DUI's cannot be released by the Division of Police. Only the judge assigned to the case can release the vehicle. Such vehicles will only be released with a judge’s order. (The Division of Police does not have any authority to release any vehicle that meets the State Law Requirement for a Court Ordered Seizure.)

Please Note:
The City of Columbus utilizes a (Contract Tow Company) third party contract towing management service when impounding vehicle authorized by the City. The City of Columbus is not liable for damage or theft involving vehicles towed at the request of the City. If you believe there was damage done to your vehicle while it was impounded, you must make a claim prior to leaving the Impound lot. Please make this claim at the Pro-Tow office located at the first window at the entrance of the building at 2700 Impound Lot Rd. If you believe there is property missing from your vehicle you must make a claim prior to leaving the lot. Search Impounded Vehicles

Do you suspect that your vehicle was recently impounded by the City of Columbus? (Vehicles that were impounded by Police to our impound lot, repo’s and private lots.) If so, you now have the ability to locate your vehicle.


Impound Lot Auctions

The auctions are held at the Police Impound Lot, 2700 Impound Lot Rd. (43207). Information can be obtained by calling (614) 645-4620. On the date of the auction, the gates open at 8:00am.
