Programs and Training

The Columbus Fire Department offers a wide variety of Safety Education Programs to the Citizens of Columbus.

CPR First Aid and AED Classes
The Columbus Division of Fire offers multiple courses to the general public in CPR, AED, and First Aid.

Donate Your House to CFD
The Columbus Division of Fire is asking property owners who may have a structure that is abandoned and/or ready to be demolished to allow firefighters to conduct training in it.

Juvenile Fire Setter Program
The program uses the "Learn Not to Burn" curriculum to promote juvenile fire safety and to assist in arson prevention for youth who have a dangerous fascination with fire and/or the tendency to set fires.

Safe House
The Safe House Program provides fire prevention training and information for events in the community via two mobile vehicles (one large and one small) that are equipped to show actual fire hazards and safety measures.

Fire Extinguisher Training
Fire extinguishers are valuable tools for extinguishing small fires and providing a path for escape. Many homes and businesses are equipped with fire extinguishers of various types. This program teaches the operator how to use their equipment properly but stresses the importance of personal safety and escape.

Fifty Plus Risk Reduction Program
The "Fifty Plus Program" provides information and training in cooking safety, fall prevention, and other fire safety measures geared towards older citizens.
