Green Power Initiative
We are proud to announce the addition of several "green" programs to reduce our impact on the environment. Through our Green Power Initiative, we offer customers convenient programs to reduce their energy consumption and support renewable energy.
Customer-Owned Distributed Energy Resources
DOP has determined that it will permit its electric customers (including residential, commercial, and industrial) to utilize DER subject to the owner/operator meeting all technical, safety, construction, interconnection requirements. Proposed customer-owned DER projects will be reviewed and approved on a case-by-case basis. More details coming soon.
Electric Vehicle
Is an electric vehicle right for me? Take the first steps toward understanding your savings potential. With an electric vehicle you can save money on gas and reduce your carbon footprint. Our partner AMP developed this online EV calculator to help start your personal estimate, compare options, and make an informed decision.
Renewable Energy
The Columbus Division of Power purchases around 890,000 MWh of power each year to serve customers and the street light system throughout the city. The division is committed to reducing its greenhouse gas emissions and diversifying its total energy mix through renewable energy purchasing and projects. More details coming soon.
EcoSmart Customer Choice
We are continuing to offer our customers an easy way to support renewable energy growth. For about three dollars per month, a residential customer can offset 100% monthly energy consumption. For commercial customers, offsetting at least 50% of your monthly energy consumption can provide a LEED point. Click here to enroll in EcoSmart.
Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI)
We are preparing to replace old analog meters with new advanced ones that can communicate wirelessly to collect electronic meter readings and provide expanded services. It will allow us to respond to issues, like outages, more efficiently and can provide customers with information about their usage before the bill comes. Ultimately, AMI will help us all reduce consumption through our Enhanced Meter Project, which will be completed in phases, running through 2026.
