Authorization Required Prior to Working on City Water or Sewer Lines

To get certified: Contractors must submit an application(PDF, 170KB) to the DPU at 111 N. front Street, Columbus, OH 43215.

Upon review of the application, DPU will mail a response which will include a date for an interview with the Review Board. The Board meets monthly every third Thursday from 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Be sure to submit the application at least 15 days prior to the monthly Review Board meetings to get in as quickly as possible. A certified letter indicating the results of the review will be mailed within 5 days of the interview.

To get certified: Contractors shall complete Contractor Awareness Training(PDF, 2MB) and sign the Power Contractor Training Verification Form(PDF, 143KB) as understanding and accepting the guidelines set forth, then send the signed form directly to DPUSafety@columbus.gov

The Division of Power database will reflect only those names on the roster, and an email will be sent showing those employees as certified to work on City Power projects.
