The Mobile Crisis Response Unit (MCR) has teams of specially-trained Columbus Police officers and Columbus Public Health clinicians; these teams receive on-going training for specialized mental health concerns and are trained to administer Naloxone, an opioid-overdose reversal agent. Their primary mission is to respond to complex mental health or substance use-related calls for service to provide a professional, compassionate and dedicated response to individuals in crisis, their families, and partner agencies.
MCR provides assistance through de-escalation, linkage to resources, and transportation to area facilities for treatment as deemed appropriate.
MCR responds to dispatched calls for service as well as internal and external referrals.
Mobile Crisis Response teams ensure the dignity of all people and strive for collaboration, improving outcomes for community members, reducing demands on police resources, and improving the safety of officers, consumers and the community.
Mobile Crisis Response includes six teams which operate from 10 a.m. to midnight, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
